In this Q&A, Alex shares his thoughts on joining IPG Energy, his vision for scaling operations, and how we’re driving the clean energy transition.
Q: What drew you to IPG Energy and its mission?
Alex Anderson: I’ve been a supporter of IPG Energy for years, so when the opportunity arose to join the team, I didn’t hesitate. What excites me most is the impact of the IPG Flameless Generator. It’s a transformative product that not only provides a clean alternative to diesel generators but is also designed with sustainability and scalability in mind. I’m passionate about delivering solutions that align environmental goals with practical, cost-effective implementation, and IPG Energy is leading the way in making that a reality.
Q: What do you see as the biggest challenge in scaling the IPG Flameless Generator?
Alex Anderson: Scaling always comes with its challenges, especially when you’re introducing a novel technology and product. For us, the focus is on the balance between environmental and economic sustainability as we go from making a few to making thousands. We’ve designed the product using low-cost, widely available materials from increasingly circular supply chains and production methods that leverage existing global infrastructure. This foundation positions us to scale responsibly and cost-effectively, but it’s my job to ensure we execute this vision efficiently.
Q: What excites you most about your new role at IPG Energy?
Alex Anderson: I’m excited to join a team that’s not just innovative but deeply passionate about its mission. IPG Energy is tackling one of the toughest challenges—delivering clean, sustainable energy to industries that rely on diesel generators—and they’ve done an incredible job building a solution that’s both environmentally and economically viable.
For me, this role is also an opportunity to take everything I’ve learned as a supplier and apply it from the perspective of an OEM. The poacher-turned-gamekeeper analogy fits perfectly here! My aim is to work closely with the team to build on their plan to scale operations, optimise supply chains, and accelerate IPG’s mission to transform power generation for a Net Zero future. Being part of such a committed and innovative team is both motivating and humbling.
Q: What lessons from your past experience do you think will be most valuable at IPG Energy?
Alex Anderson: My career as a supplier taught me how to navigate complex supply chains and deliver products efficiently at scale. I’ve spent years understanding how to align operations with cost, quality, and timing—skills that will be critical as IPG Energy moves from initial production to scaling globally.
Another key lesson is the importance of collaboration. Scaling manufacturing capabilities doesn’t happen in isolation—it requires strong partnerships across suppliers, manufacturing teams, and customers. These relationships are especially important as we build a distributed and scalable production model that aligns with IPG Energy’s goal of keeping costs manageable while expanding globally. My experience in fostering these partnerships will help ensure we meet investor expectations for responsible and efficient growth.
Q: What do you see as the biggest opportunity for IPG Energy in the next 5 years?
Alex Anderson: The biggest opportunity lies in leading the energy transition for industries like construction, which are still heavily reliant on diesel generators. By offering a cost-effective, scalable, and clean alternative, IPG Energy is perfectly positioned to disrupt the market and set a new standard for sustainable power generation.
Beyond that, I see tremendous potential in expanding our footprint globally. The flexibility of the IPG Flameless Generator allows us to serve diverse markets, and as more industries adopt renewables, the demand for innovative solutions like ours will only grow. It’s an exciting time, and I’m confident that with the right focus, IPG Energy can lead this transformation.
